
Cheap AI, too good to be true?
Like any new technology, there is always a rush to make a quick book out of anyone who doesn't understand what that technology is and how best it should be applied for their own business requirements.
Unless you've been living on Mars lately, you will probably have seen multiple adverts on social media & the net for AI chat bots and voice agents that offer super cheap prices per month, set up in minutes, answers every question, books appointments.
So let me set the record straight, firstly both AI chatbots and AI voice Agents are more than capable of doing those jobs really effectively, often way better than us humans and quickly too!
BUT and it’s a big BUT
Only if done correctly!
“Set up your Bot in minutes” is absolute “bull shit” (apologies for the profanity but these people give professional AI business automation providers a bad name)
Anyone who has used our services for either an AI Chatbot or AI voice agent will know there is a lot of work to get the AI to answer correctly, to make, edit and re-schedule appointments, learn the “lingo” (of your business) what happens during the call, what happens after the call, Is the AI going to be connected to an exterior software, will it need to search the net in real time?
Typically, at AI Bridge Club, we would take 1 week to create THE most important thing when creating these Bots – and that is “The Knowledgebase”
Every conceivable area of your business sector needs to be covered if you want a successful BOT to learn and be helping customers and prospects not hindering annoying them!
I’ll give you an example:
A local Nantwich Chiropractor we have been working with.
The knowledgebase for this is made up of the following:
A complete crawl of their website (every page, so the AI understands the basics of services they offer & starts to learn – there is a clue there “learn”)
We then created a 26-page SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) document which covers all aspects of UK Chiro best practice, terminology (it’s a long list)
Guard rails (or safety nets) Can you imagine having a conversation with an AI chatbot or voice agent and saying “Hi I can’t feel my left leg at all, can you tell me when the next available appointment is” – without guard rails, Yeh no problem, let see what dates are available. NO!!!!! The correct answer would be, based on what you have told me, you must seek urgent medical attention, please call your GP or visit your local A&E department immediately, as these symptoms are potentially very serious (end call)
We created a very long document for legal stuff pertaining to offering any kind of advice. This is serious stuff, after all
What happens if someone is rude, can’t explain themselves, has broken English, and so on.
What happens when a customer or prospect wants to speak to a human (heaven forbid!) like a manager, a supervisor, the business owner. Yeh, that is simple enough, but what happens if its 2am and it’s on a Sunday?
Like humans, AI makes mistakes. If you have ever played around with ChatGPT or Anthropic Claude etc., you will know it makes things up (they call it hallucinations)
“Buy cheap, buy twice”, as my old dad used to say
(and now me, because its true – in most cases!)
Just to finish on a more positive note, if all the above is carried out in a methodical and professional manner by people who firstly, understand business & secondly, understand AI technology then your business can thrive with AI automation services.
It’s truly amazing what can be achieved with not just AI, it doesn’t power everything we offer, but it does do the heavy lifting.
